Ten of Swords Interpretations

This card is very closely associated with death, the macabre, and ultimate defeat. Some cards picture a figure suffering or even dead. This card represents the kind of ruin that runs you down so far to the bone that there’s nothing left.

Positives may include the exposure of an exit, relief from tension (found in death), or burying the hatchet.

Additional Interpretations

“Ruin, death, defeat, disruption. Almost a worse symbol than the Nine of Swords. Undisciplined, warring force, complete disruption and failure. Ruin of all plans and projects. Disdain, insolence and impertinence, yet mirth and jollity therewith. A marplot, loving to overthrow the happiness of others; a repeater of things; given to much unprofitable speech, and of many words. Yet clever, eloquent, etc., according to dignity.” 6

“Ruin. Reason divorced from reality. Death. Failure. Disaster yet not entirely without hope. Disruption. Idle chatter. Clever, eloquent and insolent person. impertinent yet with mirth. Spiritually, may herald the end of delusion.” 5

“Ruin. Malkuth in the suit of Air. Sun in Gemini. The Swords are arranged on the Tree of Life, but the points one to five, and seven to nine, shatter the central Sword which represents the Sun, the Heart. The background is a flame with explosive destruction. This card shows reason run mad and a riot of soulless mechanism.” 5

“Ruin. Sun in Gemini. Again the design is the Tree of Life on which the swords are arranged, the centre on is the heart or Sun which is broken in fragments. The mind has let go all control and swirls in tormented madness.” 5

Axank’s Dream Recall

April 17-18, 2014
I got into a really awkward fight with my roommate (from a long time ago) about living situation/behavioral stuff. We had a big talk about it and it was fairly tense. We were able to get on the same page though and work it out. I felt pinned against my friends.

The feeling of oppression or people I care about against me is one of my personally debilitating scenarios.
