Five of Disks Thoth Tarot

Five of Disks Imagery

“The 5 symbols within the disk are Hindu tattva symbols of the elements. Red triangle—Fire; Silver crescent—Water; Blue circle—Air; Yellow square—Earth; Black egg—Spirit. In addition Mr. DuQuette points out that the spirit disk is located at the bottom point further identifying the “trumph of matter over spirit” which I translated as: the burdens of material life overpower spiritual divinity and holiness.” 6

Five of Disks Associations

Five of Disks Interpretations

The 5 of Disks to me have always been about bad luck, loss, and misfortune. With Thoth it seems to be more about displaced finances, inaccurate business, or possibly just loss on a lighter scale. It seems this card is about difficulty and hitting the wall with material things for the first time. This is a card of things not going in your favor, unproductively, misplacement of entitlement, anxiety, and disturbances—negativity towards material possessions, finances, and health. In addition to materialism it upsets and distracts your higher form of consciousness—it grounds you to the material world which can upset divine energy.

Additional Interpretations

“Loss of profession, loss of money, monetary anxiety. Loss of money or position. Trouble about material things. Labour, toil, land cultivation; building, knowledge and acuteness of earthly things, poverty, carefulness, kindness; sometimes; money regained after severe toil and labour. Unimaginative, harsh, stern, determined, obstinate.” 6

“Worry. Intense strain with continued inaction. Loss of money. Profession. Monetary anxiety. Poverty. Well-dignified: Labor. Land cultivation. Building. Intelligence applied to labor.” 5

“Worry. Geburah in the suit of Earth. Mercury in Taurus. This represents the five Disks in an inverted pentagram. The general effect is one of strain, yet the symbol is long-continued inaction. Its natural meaning is intelligence applied to labour.” 5

“Worry. Mercury in Taurus. Geburah. Five disks in an inverted pentagram. They are surrounded by other disks which are bent and torn by strain. The picture shows suppressed action and the binding of celestial forces to mechanical purposes.” 5

Axank’s Dream Recall

July 08-09, 2013
A man named “Sasuito” who was tied down by each limb (all 5) and was slowly being pulled apart. I don’t think this card relates that severely in any sense except maybe the concepts of being tortured or in pain from something that has put you at a loss.
