Eight of Wands Interpretations

The Eight of Wands is an action card. It’s like a big gust of hot air—it may singe the hair on your eyebrows but it’s gone in a flash. The presence of Mercury is where we derive the symbols of messages and communication. Sagittarius carries us through with a direct and noble force. If things require skill it will come quite easily to you. Energy is abundant and will carry you as far as you need to go.

Additional Interpretations

“Hasty communications and messages; swiftness. Too much force applied too suddenly. Very rapid rush, but quickly passed and expended. Violent, but not lasting. Swiftness, rapidity, courage, boldness, confidence, freedom, warfare, violence; love of open air, field-sports, gardens and meadows. Generous, subtle, eloquent, yet somewhat untrustworthy; rapacious, insolent, oppressive. Theft and robbery. According to dignity.” 6

“Swiftness. Speech. Light. Electricity. Energy of high velocity. Activity. Approach to goal. Letter or message. Rapidity, Boldness. Freedom. Ill-dignified: Too much force applied too suddenly. A flash in the pan.” 5

“Swiftness. Hod in the suit of Fire. Mercury in Sagittarius. This car represents the Light-Wands turned into electrical rays constituting matter by their energy. Above this restored Universe is the Rainbow. representing interplay and correlation. It also shows the energy of high velocity.” 5

“Swiftness. Mercury in Sagittarius. Hod. The wands have turned into electric energy, above is a rainbow. Here we have the acme of restless force.” 5

Axank’s Dream Recall

January 20-21, 2014
As I was out at night biking in the wealthy suburbs I passed two sketchy men. I went to the right thinking I knew where I was and where I was going but found myself at a dead end. The end of the street was filled with odd lawn objects like an oversized mini-golf windmill. I turned around and went back and passed by the two men again when they started harassing me. I managed to get away from them and into a narrow footpath where I passed two ladies where I hit a corner. Then, a dog came out of no where and jumped with an open mouth closing on my arm and biting down. The bite startled me, but it didn’t break the skin or do much damage. Again the dog jumped and bit me on the shoulder or arm repeatedly.

There are only scattered elements of this dream that makes a connection to the Eight of Wands. Riding the bike suggests movement (and ‘swiftness’). The encounter with the men and the dog correlate to hostility or violence, where the men were diffused quite quickly the dog was more volatile.
